Question 2

How does your media product particular social groups?

The social groups which feature in our film are predominately teenagers, and briefly parents/adults. The character's that feature in the film opening are a male protagonist, his father and his male friend of the same age. Our film is about teenagers caught up in the world of drugs, and so we used stereotypes like the bedroom being messy and the boy, Steven, being very secretive and panicking when his father approaches his room. This also shows the stereotype of the child being afraid of getting in trouble from the parent(s).

I think that our film portrayed teenagers in a negative light as it explores teenage drug culture and the negative aspects it can have on one's life. In regards to class, through the costume of the protagonist (smart shirt and tie) it was shown that the school he attended was quite a well respected. This helped our film as it showed that drug culture can effect people from all classes.
